Exposition Park streetscape plan

Los Angeles Vision Zero high traffic injury corridors

Sam Schwartz is helping the City of Los Angeles identify design strategies for enhancing the comfort, safety, and aesthetics of the streets surrounding Exposition Park. The Park, home to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the Banc of California Stadium, and several of the city’s most important museums, is a major cultural and entertainment destination. The major roadways surrounding the site have all been identified by LADOT as High Injury Network corridors, where safety interventions can have the highest impact on protecting pedestrians and bicyclists.

Sam Schwartz will generate an analysis of area collision data, with site-specific ideas for enhancing safety, as well as proposals for multi-benefit placemaking elements. A robust community engagement process will help refine these initiatives as well as surface new opportunities. The final product will align with the City’s plans for encouraging sustainable mobility and implementing Vision Zero principles.
