Hudson bergen light rail traffic engineering services
Sam Schwartz provides traffic engineering services to New Jersey Transit (NJT) and its Hudson Bergen Light rail (HBLR) DBOM contractor URS to optimize the traffic signal timing along Hudson and Essex Streets. The optimization includes review of the existing traffic conditions and demand on the crossing streets during the morning and evening peak hours. The modified timings will require installation of hardware such as video detection cameras, push button assemblies, and signage. The software installed on the existing Naztec Controllers were re-programmed for the modified timings, which will not only continue to provide partial priority for the HBLR but will be sensitive to side street demand during rush hours.
